Freedom Versus Big Brother

I recently wrote about the band of sisters taking on the Obama Administration over its attempt to force yet another institute-to the will of the omnipresent governent giant.  America once the bastion of free enterprise, is on the verge of a new direction - into the arena of well-trodden but failed socialist states that cropped up in the 19th and 20th centuries.  Details of this revoluton are everywhere, but not that important.  What is important is the mind-set of President Obama, vice-president Biden and all the technocrats hired to turn their vision into social reality.  In 2011, President Obama said:

"There is a certain crowd in Washington who have said let's respond to this economic challenge with the same old tune.  The market will take care of everything.  If we just cut more regulations and cut more taxes, especially for the wealthy, our economy will grow stronger.  It's a simple theory and we must admit it's one that speaks to our rugged individualism and our healthy skepticism of too much government - that's in America's DNA.  But here's the problem, it doesn't work.  It has never worked."

IN 2010 Joe Biden revealed his personal philosophy when he said:  "Every single great idea that has marked the 21st century, the 20th century and the 19th century has required government vision and government incentive."

Perhaps one example of this big government approach will hammer home the point.  For 32 years running, the Ford F-Series pickup has been America's top-selling vehicle.  In 2013, 763,402 F-Series were sold compared to the energy-friendly Volt at 23,094.  But if consumers had bought the Volt, they would have received a tax credit up to $7500.  What's wrong with people?  Passing up free money?  The Administration sees this subsidy as part of their noble agenda and maybe some day the sales numbers will be reversed.  But in the meantime, when will big government realize it can't subsidize, legislate or browbeat consumers into buying habits that go against their own best interests?
