Freedom of Speech: For Progressives Only

Some university student unions don't allow pro-life clubs on campus.  Some feminist groups ostracize conservative journalists trying to cover their conventions.  Some left-wing politicians try to bar "non-progressive"  thinkers from entering their country for speaking engagements.  Now we have Brendan Eich, former Mozilla CEO, pressured by the Board of Directors to resign from the company because he dared to donate $1,000.  to a group supporting traditional marriage.... in 2008.

Eich is a well-respected technologist.  In 1998, he co-founded Mozilla which makes the popular Firefox web browser.  He also invented Java Script.  As a corporate manager, he supported Mozilla's policy of giving equal health benefis to same-sex couples and he never let his personal values influence any of his decisions.
But for some reason, his promotion to top dog at Mozilla was too much for the left to bear.  In 2008, both Barack Obama and Hilary Clinton supported traditional marriage but I guess they were given a pass because they "just hadn't reached the right level of enlightenment yet."  But Brendan Eich is being drummed out of Silicon Valley because he had the courage to stand by his beliefs.

Do you remember the time when open debate was not only tolerated but encouraged?  When freedom of speech really was one of the cornerstones of every democratic constitution?  I do.  Now only "progressives"  can claim a right to free speech.  Conservatives need not apply.
